The Sainte-Agnès castle site is known today thanks to research carried out by the Art and History Society of Mentonnais. This medieval defensive fortress, of which the central tower and the enclosure are still visible, was abandoned in the 15th and 16th centuries when the village descended on the flank of the rocky outcrop it dominates. Reorganized in the 17th and early 18th centuries, the Sainte-Agnès castle was used periodically during the conflicts between France and the House of Savoy.
