Deforested until the 1950s to provide firewood, the 'Dentelles de Montmirail' massif is today largely covered with a Mediterranean protective forest mainly composed of Aleppo pines, holm oaks, white oaks, cedars and black pines from Austria. The flora of the massif owes its diversity to its location at the northern limit of the Mediterranean climate as well as to the contrasts of its exposure zones and to the nature of its soils. On the southern slopes of the massif, there are rather holm oaks, Aleppo pines and areas of scrubland while its valleys and ubacs welcome downy oaks, boxwood and Scots pines.
