An exceptionally diverse flora

0
The Cévennes National Park has more than 2,250 species of flowering plants. Among these listed plants, 40% of French flora is found. An exceptional diversity concentrated on only 0.5% of the national territory. Specialists accompanied by teams from the park have been able to identify over the years nearly 60 species of ferns, 730 species of mosses, several thousand different mushrooms, and more than 1,000 species of lichens. This very important diversity is the result of several factors brought together in this territory: a wide variety of rocks (granite, limestone, dolomite, etc.), contrasting climatic influences, a large difference in altitudes, and many different human activities over time.
