In 2018, Normandy had 4,840 horse breeders, 670 equestrian centers, 515 trainers, 212 professional riders, 190 farriers, and 291 industrial and service companies (manufacturers of food, medicine, equipment, etc.) focused on horses. Some 6,470 Norman companies - most often VSEs - have an activity related to equines. They constitute an economic sector in its own right and generate nearly 18,000 jobs in the region.
