Such clown made from painted and decorated terracotta pots is a universal nod to walkers in the village of Castellar. Ancestrally known all over the world, the clown goes back for some cultures to Antiquity buffoons and mimes, to the jesters of medieval ceremonies, to the strollers of the theater, or to the figures of the commedia dell'arte. Its name comes from the English word which originally designated a peasant, a boor, or a villain.
