Madine Lake and its three leisure bases allow observing more than 250 bird species. In addition to its avifauna, the protected site also shelters some 40 mammal species, including bats such as the greater mouse-eared bat and the lesser horseshoe bat. Wild cats and European badgers are also common around the lake's shores. Their pondweeds and reed beds are home to vast quantities of amphibians and insects that feed the numerous birds nesting or resting there.
