Each Laguiole knife is unique thanks to the entirely artisanal manufacturing process perpetuated in the village's cutleries. In workshops, all assembly steps of knife-making are carried out by the same craftsman. The guilloche is shaped by hand on a forged spring, and the adjustment is executed on sight. To craft a one-piece model with a single blade, some 109 operations are necessary. The cutler's eye is the most essential factor in the process.
