A limestone backbone
0
0
The massive backbone of the Montagne de Bure in the Dévoluy massif consists of a relief of structural slabs of Senonian limestones pierced with sinkholes. It also comprises valleys bordered by small steep slopes determined by minor faults mainly oriented northeast/southwest. To the north of La Joue du Loup winter sports resort, the Senonian layers disappear under softer Tertiary layers that envelop the Senonian anticlinal vault without reflecting its shape in their relief.
