Bugatti is a brand with 1,000 patents and 37 world records. In 1907 Ettore Bugatti was chosen by Nikolaus-August Otto, the co-inventor of the gasoline engine, to create a car. As early as 1909, he decided to work solo and designed his first vehicle, the Type 10. He persuaded the aviator Louis Blériot to drive it and created his car manufacturing company. Bugatti perfected his engine and produced the Type 13. It constituted the very first official model of the Bugatti company, and it made its immediate success. Its 4-cylinders engine developed 15 HP (15 CV) and allowed reaching 56 mph (90 km/h). Some of these engines are on display at the Cité de l'Automobile, as well as an ample collection of cars, including the Type 13.
