Located in the center of the medieval village of Besse-et-Sainte-Anastaise, Saint-André Church was built from lava stones over a former old lava flow. Although usually associated with soft stones, the Romanesque architecture was adapted with volcanic stones in the Sancy massif. First built during the 12th century, Saint-André Church is a typical example of Auvergne Romanesque art.
