An economy boosted by tourism

The village of Saint-Véran in the Hautes-Alpes department had 192 inhabitants in 2019. Entirely located in the Queyras Regional Nature Park, this small rural locality is part of the conurbation of Guillestrois and Queyras. Its economy was boosted during the 20th century through tourism and the creation of a family winter sports resort. Several shops (groceries, crafts, services) remain in the village, which also has five restaurants and, since 2012, a high-end hotel complex.
