An economy of scents and flavors
0
0
Very early on, the inhabitants of the region of Forcalquier took advantage of their harsh and laborious environment by learning about the local plants and their uses. First collected in the wild, they were then cultivated to constitute an economic activity in its own right and feed various professions, from peddlers to druggists, including perfumers, distillers, and lavender growers. Also used in medicine and cooking, aromatic plants have ensured the survival of local populations and have enabled the development of an economy of scents and flavors very much alive today.
