One of the three populations of harbor seals
1
0
Baie des Veys in Normandy is home to one of the three populations of harbor seals in France. Together with the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park and the Domaine de Beauguillot National Nature Reserve, Natura 2000 is implementing action and protection plans for marine mammals, the number of which is increasing. Quiet zones are established to prevent mothers from abandoning their young on the beaches when disturbed by tourists. Since 2018, the Norman Mammalogical Group (GMN) has been monitoring and protecting the harbor seals in the Orne estuary.
