A sober and outdated decoration

The current decoration of the living quarters of the Fort de Brégançon dates back to the two consecutive terms of Jacques Chirac (1995-2007), during which it was completely redesigned at the initiative of his wife Bernadette Chirac. Claude Pompidou, another first lady, previously had the fort fitted out in 1970s style with white leather and plexiglass. Fort de Brégançon's current, relatively modest, almost monastic and somewhat outdated decoration sharply contrasts with the gold of the Elysée Palace.
