The Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast) suddenly opens where Veules-les-Roses has settled since the 4th century. Under Philippe le Bel, the port grew in importance with the intensification of herring and mackerel fishing. The wealth of the village grew with the Lords of Blosseville in the 16th century.
