A crown of wax

The crown, destined to come at the very top of the bell, and its handles are made of beeswax. They are often decorated with animal or human heads and sometimes include a small religious statue between the handles. The finished model is coated with clay and heated to 392°F (200°C) in an oven to make the wax melt. The mold is then fixed on the top of the bell, and both are cast in bronze at once.
