The color name mustard, associated or not with yellow, comes from the eponymous condiment. In the fine arts, it is associated with the shades of folded warm yellow or folded orange as well as with the yellow ocher pigments that enter its composition. Its use is attested for the first time in French from 1613 to describe fabrics of a fairly bright warm yellow color. At the end of the 19th century, it established itself as a fashionable color before being confused with khaki during the First World War and then being associated with the Nazi uniform. At the end of the war, it attracted light, dressed the ladies, colored the convertible cars, and entered the houses.
