A quick and cheap construction

The central aisle of the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe (St. James and St. Philip) church in Lentilles (Aube) is very original. The solid oak beams rise up to the ceiling, which is also made of wood, and is made of panelling decorated with diamond-shaped lugs. The interior walls show the cob in its raw state without any paint or ornamentation. The walls, interspersed with wooden beams, anchor this church in the style of the region. Here, the builders built their churches with timber framing, just like their houses. A quick and cheap method of construction.
