Tactile communication between the mare and her foal plays a decisive role from the birth of the young Przewalski horse. Touching is, indeed, essential to the realization of the first breastfeeding and then to the good progress of the following ones. The mare only helps her foal to suck if it maintains a fairly significant tactile contact on the flank of its mother.
