An essential olfactory communication

Przewalski horses (Equus ferus przewalskii) use olfactory communication (mutual blowing of air to probe each other's body odor) for recognition between individuals and mark their territory. Olfaction allows the stallions to analyze the urines and droppings of the mares in heat and to cover the other stallions' dungs. It is also essential for the development, from birth, of the mare-foal bond.
