With a population of 579 inhabitants (2019) scattered over an area of 1,764 acres (714 ha), Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is a rural locality with a low population density (81 inhabitants / km²). Its soils are mostly covered with forests and semi-natural environments of shrub or herbaceous vegetation (83 % in 2018). Heterogeneous agricultural areas, particularly dedicated to viticulture and truffle culture, represent 17 % of the municipal territory. The relief of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is made up of the hills and cliffs of the Monts de Vaucluse with garrigue slopes and lush valleys.
