The village of Venasque had 1,013 inhabitants in 2019. Its low population density (29 inhabitants / km²) ranks it among the rural municipalities of the Vaucluse department. It nevertheless attracts numerous visitors with its sunshine, location near the Mont Ventoux, the Nesque gorges, and the Luberon valley, and thanks to the development of wine tourism. In addition to its three buildings listed as Historical Monuments, Venasque's substantial heritage includes, among other things, the remains of a Roman wall, multiple bories, some of which housing cave wine vats, and the Notre-Dame de Vie Institute recognized as the only secular institute of pontifical right with three autonomous branches.
