Populated by 1,547 inhabitants in 2018, Gorbio is considered a rural municipality with a low population density of 220 inhabitants per square kilometer. It is located in the French part of the urban unit and attraction area of Menton-Monaco, of which it is a peripheral locality. Thanks to its location close to but set back from the Mediterranean coast, its unspoiled environment, and its quality of life, Gorbio has attracted a constantly growing population since the end of the 20th century and has fewer and fewer houses for sale.
