A municipality protected by the law

The planning of the municipality of Bormes-les-Mimosas, and its southernmost part of Cap Bénat, is subject to the application of the French Littoral Law of January 3, 1986. It aims to promote a balance between the development, protection, and enhancement of the French coastline both on land and sea. The law intends on doing so by imposing major planning principles such as the control and limitation of urbanized spaces, the protection of remarkable natural areas, or the general ban on coastal roads less than 6,561 ft (2,000 m) from the shore.
