A lonely and protected chapel

It is forbidden to approach the Saint-Michel chapel on the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, and no visit is organized there. A protective wall has even been built around the site to prevent access and vandalism. The chapel can be observed from afar from the national road and its car parks or from Baie Saint-Michel named after it. Sightseeing boats approach it in summer, and in spring it is accessible on foot for a few weeks when the lake level is at its lowest to absorb the water from the snowmelt.
