The masterpiece of the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar – the Issenheim Altarpiece – monopolises the choir of the chapel of the former Dominican convent. A masterpiece created by Grünewald and Nicolas de Haguenau between 1512 and 1516. The altarpiece is presented dismantled. Models allow you to see the whole and to open the shutters. The floor of the church has been redone and the damp tiles have been replaced by a warm parquet floor. In the nave, works by 16th-century artists such as the sculptor Veit Wagner and the painter Wilhelm Stetter complete the exhibition.
