An emblematic Marseille brasserie

La Samaritaine is one of the most famous brasseries in the Old Port of Marseille in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. It is located at the corner of the Quai du Port and Rue de la République (former Rue Impériale) designed in the 1860s to connect the Old Port to the port of La Joliette. From the inauguration of Rue Impériale in 1864, many stores - including La Samaritaine, then a large lingerie store - settled there. A victim of the economic crisis of the early 20th century, La Samaritaine closed its doors before being bought in 1910 and transformed into a brasserie.
