Another vision of the bay

Crossing the Couesnon dam, another world opens up. Washed by the high tides, the salt meadows, or ‘herbus’, offer a completely different image of the bay. Tall, bright green meadows with glasswort and about thirty halophytic (salt-tolerant) plants. Today, there are only eleven Norman and Breton shepherds raising salt-meadow sheep. Since 2014, their lambs have received the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) “prés-salés du Mont Saint-Michel” (Mont-Saint-Michel salt meadow lambs).
