Men have been studying the stars and the night sky at the Pic du Midi observatory since 1873. Among the predilection and excellence areas of the Pyrenean site, astronomy and the science of celestial bodies rub shoulders with the study of the sun, stars, and planets. The Bernard Lyot telescope is the first in the world dedicated to the study of star magnetism. Today, the Pic du Midi observatory carries out its work in the fields of nocturnal motions in astrophysics, solar dynamics, and atmospheric activities.
