The Provençal Colorado is a former ocher quarry that experienced its first groundbreaking in 1871 and its last ocher washing in 1993. A private estate belonging to both the municipality of Rustrel and some 150 owners heirs of ocher workers and united within the Provençal Colorado of Rustrel association, the site was shaped by the exploitation of ocher. As visitors walk along its two main trails, they discover vestiges of the ocher industrial past (working faces, basins, water pipes, etc.) and natural formations shaped by erosion.
