Grass, whether fresh, ensiled, or in the form of hay, constitutes the basis of cattle feed. In summer, the cows benefit from the fresh grass of the pastures. In winter, their diet must allow them to rediscover the taste and nutritional value of the standing grass they experienced in spring. Hay and silage then represent most of their daily alimentation, which keeps them busy about eight hours a day.
