A journey through time

The Cité du train-Patrimoine SNCF in Mulhouse offers a real journey through time. In the era of the TGV speed records (357 mph or 574.8 km/h in 2007), the superb steam locomotives on display in the museum allow us to measure the technological progress made in 150 years. In the special area dedicated to steam propulsion, a steam locomotive from 1949 is set in motion every 30 minutes, amidst noise and smoke. In the course of the 20th century, the arrival of diesel and electricity led to the development of train travel, in a constant search for comfort and speed. The star of the rails, the orange TGV, entered the museum in 2011.
