Formerly known as Villiers-en-Boscaige, Villers-Bocage extends in the Calvados department between the Normandy bocage and Bessin. Several rivers, like the Seulline to the west or the Odon to the south, explain the greenery of the village's surroundings. The region is known as pre-bocage as it is on the threshold of the Virois bocage and the plain of Caen. Villers-Bocage was 90% destroyed during World War II.
