A village with successive dams
0
0
The very first dam built in Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, in the Vaucluse department, dates back to 1763. Following an overflow that damaged part of the village, it was raised and reinforced in 1835. The top of the wall of the dam of 1835 is still visible upstream of the current structure by low waters. Deemed insecure, the former dam was replaced by a new, taller, and stronger one built a few meters downstream and put into service in 1902.
