A lifetime title
In 1990, Robert Marichy was awarded the title of Best Worker in France (Meilleur Ouvrier de France - MOF) in the wood turner and twister category of Group V of the housing, wood and furniture trades. This competition, which has been held every three to four years since 1924, requires months to years of preparation for the exam, the program of which is presented two years in advance. In his search for perfection, the candidate has a given time and basic materials to create a masterpiece. Throughout the exam, the chosen method, organization, gesture, speed, know-how and respect for the rules of the trade are checked and noted by the jury as well as the result. The successful candidate retains his title for life with the indication of his specialty followed by the year in which the title was obtained.
