In the Norman countryside and along the coasts, flax constitutes a local tradition. The region's temperate and humid oceanic climate, low thermal amplitude, and rich and deep soil are particularly conducive to its cultivation. The technical mastery and know-how of flax growers also play a major role in the production of high-quality linen fibers. Established in Haute-Normandie (Upper Normandy), the Terre de Lin cooperative alone gathers 600 producers and supplies 15% of the world's production of flax fibers.
