The Transmanche car ferry connects Dieppe to Newhaven, England, in four hours, and also saves time in freight transport. A port is specially dedicated to it, bordered by jetties with holes to let the force of the waves pass through. Until 1994, the car ferry occupied the main port, now reserved for boaters. Nearby, gravel, taken offshore using a dredge, is transformed into powder for concrete.
