A system of solitary cells

The solitary cells of the monastery of Notre-Dame de Clémence are hermitages in which the nuns live alone every day of their lives. They pray, work, sleep and eat there and leave them only on Sundays and on the occasion of the two daily liturgical celebrations that take place in the church. The cells of solitude consist of four rooms with bare lime-plastered walls. They are extended by private gardens that allow their occupants to stay in contact with nature despite the height of the enclosures.
