The Salins d'Hyères site, on the Mediterranean coast of the Var department, benefits from numerous complementary regulatory and legal statuses that guarantee its preservation and environmentally friendly development. It is both a Remarkable Area under the Coastal Law of January 3, 1986, and a Natura 2000 site protected by the Birds and Fauna and Flora Habitats European directives. The salt marshes are also part of the Port-Cros National Park and a Ramsar site protected under the International Convention for the Preservation of Wetlands.
