A popular place for boaters

The Baie du Trésor - a real maritime enclave in the Caravelle Reserve on the eastern coast of Martinique - is a safe place to anchor, sheltered from the winds and swells of the Atlantic Ocean. Sailboats or motorboats limited in number by the small size of the bay drop anchor there to reach its gray sand beach and benefit from the calm of its anchorage. Unlike most moorings in the Caribbean, the anchors rest there on a sandy bottom without tearing up the seagrass. The boaters can enjoy the diversity of the tropical marine ecosystems gathered on this small, well-enclosed area. More than half of the coral species counted in Martinique are thus present in the bay even though its depth does not exceed 65 ft (20 m).
