The former industrial site of the Salins d'Hyères has been converted into a natural site with a high biological value since its acquisition by the Coastal Protection Agency in 2001. In 2003, a discovery trail destined for pedestrians and cyclists and punctuated with observatories was built in the heart of the Vieux Salins. Named Levée de Saint-Nicolas, it follows the route of the old eponymous public road. The course joins an old building restored as a nature space dedicated to the discovery of the fauna, flora, water management, and history of the site.
