A renowned climbing site
0
0
The Gorges de la Jonte, located between the Causse Noir and the Causse Méjean to the north, extend over more than 12.43 mi (20 km). This renowned climbing site with limestone rocks is also a natural observatory for raptors, and especially vultures reintroduced in the region since the 1980s. The Gorges de la Jonte are part of a site listed as a Great site of France and bear the name of the wild river flowing from the Aigoual, one of the massifs of the Cévennes National Park. The region is famous for climbing thanks to the limestone formations dotting the heart of the Grands Causses and creating its unique landscapes.
