A site dear to pink flamingos

Subservient to shallow brackish or salty water lagoons and salt flats, pink flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) usually breed in Camargue in spring. Later, many of them traditionally return to summer and winter in the Salins d'Hyères. Particularly faithful to their wintering site, the flamingos are joined in August and September by birds from Italy, Spain, and Algeria. The species' reproduction has already been observed on the Salin des Pesquiers but is often disrupted by the exercises of the civil security's fire-fighting planes in the neighboring Almanarre Bay.
