A kingdom dedicated to the horse

Located in the Orne department, the Haras National du Pin covers a vast area of more than 2,470 acres (1,000 ha) entirely dedicated to horses. Some 120,000 annual visitors pass through its heavy gate of honor, atop which sits a golden horse's head. They then discover the main courtyard or Colbert courtyard, around which stand the two red brick wings of the main stables dedicated to large and small stallions and the stone castle with its classical architecture. Other stables as well as a forge, tack rooms, infirmaries, and a 170 ft (52 m) long riding school surround the other courtyards of this kingdom of the horse.
