The lemon shark owes its name to the yellowish color of the youngest specimen. When they reach adulthood this color oscillates between yellow and brown on the back of its body. Thanks to this feature lemon sharks can camouflage perfectly with the bottom of the ocean in shallow waters because its color is similar to the sand of the sea floor.
