A demographic resurgence

At the start of the 20th century, the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie had 907 inhabitants and had sacrificed to rural exodus more than half of its population compared to its historic peak of 1,955 inhabitants in 1765. This demographic decline only ceased in the 1960s after reaching its lowest level of 444 inhabitants in 1954. Since then, the population of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has resumed a slow but constant growth and reached 711 inhabitants in 2018.
