The Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park is home to a wide variety of natural environments: forests, ponds, wetlands, hillsides, limestone grasslands, and moors. These environments are home to numerous mammals such as the wild cat (Felis silvestris), the red fox (Vulpes vulpes), the wild boar (Sus scrofa), and the red deer (Cervus elaphus), which was reintroduced in 1955 in the Verzy sector. The amphibians are well represented with three rare species: the spotted salamander (Salamandra salamandra), the crested newt (Triturus cristatus), and the yellow-bellied sounder (Bombina variegata).
