A 127 feet high pylon

The François Le Chevalier footbridge in Le Havre is the work of architect Guillaume Gillet and spans the Bassin du Commerce. Two metal spans 100 and 240 ft long (31 and 73 m) are suspended from a pylon 127 ft high (39 m) that supports the footbridge. The seemingly light guardrails allow complete visibility and give an impression of great finesse to the white-painted structure. The cable-stayed bridge system of the Bassin du Commerce footbridge is designed on the principle of ship masts to distribute the force and support up to 992 pounds/sqft (450kg/m²).
