An ambitious project in a rural area

Since its inauguration in 2012, the MuséoParc of Alise-Sainte-Reine dedicated to the battle of Alésia has welcomed 800,000 visitors. Such result is inferior to the expectations of the Departmental Council of the Côte-d'Or department, which would like to reach or even exceed the peak of 80,000 admissions recorded in 2019. Three million euros have therefore been invested by the State, the department, and the region to improve the scenography of the site and better promote its archaeological discoveries. An initial envelope of 52 million euros had been budgeted for this ambitious project in a rural area that hoped to welcome 150,000 visitors per year.
