A lighthouse and a semaphore

Built between 1829 and 1832, the lighthouse of Cap Camarat is listed as a Historical Monument but is not open to visitors. Automated, it is managed by the Lighthouses and Beacons Service and remotely controlled from the Porquerolles station in the bay of Hyères. Cap Camarat also comprises a semaphore, next to the lighthouse, managed by the French Navy that monitors it day and night. It houses a DSC (Digital Selective Calls) repeater that receives distress calls and ensures safety at sea.
